Basketball Tips about Basketball Tips and Basketball Tipsters

Sphere: Related Content
There are basketball tips all over the Internet. There are free basketball tips, basketball tips packages, there are basketball tips based on records, winning streaks, individual players, and there are basketball tips that apparently consider none of these. There are basketball tips that rely primarily on the team psychology, while others are built around the coach's psychology.

The very best basketball tips, however, are actually orchestrated evaluations of one full team's playing ability versus the other full team's ability as measured by someone who knows everyone on both teams and each individual's ability, right down to how well each individual plays against the opposing team. Obviously in order to be able to make this kind of an evaluation, one must eat sleep and drink basketball.

In order to fully value each individual player on a basketball team, relative to each opposing player on the opposing basketball team, to know the history of each, the current level of play, current trends within each team's play, in essence, having the ability to play the game in ones mind and determine the likely outcome, goes a little bit beyond most of the basketball tips you will find out there. It is like the difference between a casual spectator betting on a horserace and one of the jockeys in the race betting on the same race. Which bet would you rather make?

The guys who set the lines in Las Vegas, who determine the over and under scores, the sports analysts who use computer models and can figure probabilities and build algorithms that help them determine whether or not to shave that extra half a point off of a playoff game's line. Those guys do with numbers only, what some of these basketball tips gurus do with "preplaying" that game in their head before it actually happens. Both things are fair, if you have the ability, both really only still count as basketball tips, just like the guy who finds his tips using a dartboard. So the point is: depending on how much you are leaning on the tip, sometimes it is more important to evaluate your tipster than the team you are betting.

There are various Casino and Nevada based sports monitor sites on the internet. Many of them track ongoing results from gaming aficionados and tipsters across the internet, and across the country. Type Casino Sports betting or Nevada sports monitor into the Google search bar and you can review many such sites. Some even offer free one day or one time use of the site. Other sites are free but charge the tipsters to participate. It is often helpful just to read the tips and many have some analysis thrown in as well, just to verify or validate your betting decisions. Happy Winnings!

Top Ten Teams in the NBA in 2008

Sphere: Related Content
Here is my unofficial list of the top ten teams for the NBA's 2008 to 2009 season.

1. Boston Celtics: The returning championship team, these guys now know what it takes to get to the finals and come out victorious. Their record so far is just as impressive, they are 20-2. They could break the Chicago Bulls record of 72-10 if they keep up that pace. Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Rondo, Allen, Cassell, so much talent it's unbelievable.

2. Cleveland Cavaliers: Lebron James is hungry for a championship ring. Whether he does it with Cleveland, or eventually New York, he will eventually get one. He has that essence that Jordan had where you knew he would accomplish his goals. He has more talent around him this year and is doing very well. He is averaging 26.7 points a game right now. Lebron deserves his first MVP this year as his team would be 4-16 without him most likely at this point.

3. L.A. Lakers: What better rival to Boston than L.A.? It carries on the legacy of guys like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson among others. These guys are looking just as hard to beat as last year if not more. Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum are playing stellar this year. Their record is 17-3 and they are on a good pace to possible break the 72-10 mark as well. Kobe is averaging 24.9 points and might get MVP again.

4. Denver Nuggets: Now that they have Chauncey Billups they seem more revitalized. They play transition offense and defense much better and get the key plays. Clutch shooting is no problem now that Billups is here to save them. They could make one of their deepest playoff runs ever this year.

5. Portland Trailblazers: Talk about young talent. They have Brandon Roy, Greg Oden, LaMarcus Aldrige, Steve Blake, and Channing Frye. That is probably the youngest team I've seen in a while. While it will take time for Oden to develop and harness his skills, this team is an all out threat. Brandon Roy is having one of his best seasons averaging 20 points a game.

6. Orlando Magic: Dwight Howard is trying to end the season with the highest average of rebounds a game. Oh yeah he already is achieving that for the most part. He is getting 21 point and 14.5 rebounds per game. He is a player every team would love to have. On top of that they have Rashard Lewis, a big threat all around, as well as Turkoglu who can drain if from three land whenever he is called upon.

7. New Orleans Hornets: Now that they have some playoff experience, watch out! With a deadly guard in Chris Paul and a terrific finisher in Tyson Chandler the Hornets will hurt you everywhere. They also have Peja Stojakovic for when they need a clutch three. They are lacking in front court depth and don't have the best back up for Chris Paul. Other than that they look to do some more damage this year in the post season.

8. Houston Rockets: Talk about great depth, Tracy McGrady is hurt again, yet that doesn't stop the Rockets. They are 14-8 so far. They are definitely a sleeper team that could shock a lot of people. I know it sounds cliche but once Yao Ming and T-Mac are back in force, it will be on for the race in the SouthWest division.

9. Dallas Mavericks: A very rocky start for the Mavericks, but they are starting to turn it around. They are beating the teams that they should so far. But they need to show they can beat the Cavs, Lakers, and Celtics of the NBA world. Cause if they don't, making the playoffs really won't matter if you lose in round one again.

10. San Antonio Spurs: Losing Tony Parker was a big loss for the team earlier in the season. They are fighting back now that they have him, and have a 12-8 record so far which is on par for the upper ten percent of teams. Parker is still not his old self just yet as his stats are way below his norm.

The Strange But True History of Basketball

Sphere: Related Content
It would seem that Basketball has been with us forever. Yet it was only in 1881 that Dr. James Naismith created the game that now is one of the most popular games in the United States. What you may not also realise is that Naismith was actually born in Canada, and some wonder if the sport would be so popular in the US had he not been living in Massachusetts at the time he invented it.

Before he went to work at the YMCA Training School in Massachusetts, Naismith was the athletics director at the University of McGill in Montreal. It all started because he was trying to find a game for students to play inside during the cold winters. A soccer ball and two peach baskets were used to play the first game. At first a broomstick was used to push the ball out of the basket. Later they cut holes in the bottoms of the baskets, which is how the hoop and net we're used to eventually developed.

The game was introduced widely through the YMCA, not only the United States but throughout the world. Millions of people world wide play basketball as a hobby or even professionally. However, no nation has seen as much popularity for basketball as North America.

The game of Basketball continued to gain popularity and it was showcased in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. And today the National Basketball League is one of the most popular sports events. Prior to the formation of NBA the controlling body for the game of basketball in America was the Basketball Association of America. Today the NBA players boast some of the highest salaries in the professional sports.

The first paid basketball players can be traced back to 1896 on November 7. This was the date of a game between the Trenton Basketball Team and the Brooklyn YMCA. Basketball eventually broke away from the YMCA and moved into the National Basketball League.

Today great basket ball players like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain, Shaquille O'Neal and many more have made headlines not only in basketball, but in movies, tabloids, and even music. They even are role models for many kids as the game of basket ball is really very popular.

The NBA Finals are one of the most popular televised sports events in the United States. Everyone loves to cheer on their favorite teams and players. Michael Jordan, or Air Jordan as he was known, brought about much of the popularity in NBA merchandise. Everyone wanted Air Jordan jerseys, shirts, hats, shorts, and of course the ever popular shoes.

Today basket ball is one of the most popular games in the US and the NBA is a multi-million dollar association that earns revenue from ticket sales, televised games, and of course the equally popular merchandise. It is perhaps the favorite pass time and extra curricular activity with many children. Dr James Naismith must never have thought that his simple game with a ball and two peach baskets would become such a mega success.
