Basketball Tips about Basketball Tips and Basketball Tipsters

Sphere: Related Content
There are basketball tips all over the Internet. There are free basketball tips, basketball tips packages, there are basketball tips based on records, winning streaks, individual players, and there are basketball tips that apparently consider none of these. There are basketball tips that rely primarily on the team psychology, while others are built around the coach's psychology.

The very best basketball tips, however, are actually orchestrated evaluations of one full team's playing ability versus the other full team's ability as measured by someone who knows everyone on both teams and each individual's ability, right down to how well each individual plays against the opposing team. Obviously in order to be able to make this kind of an evaluation, one must eat sleep and drink basketball.

In order to fully value each individual player on a basketball team, relative to each opposing player on the opposing basketball team, to know the history of each, the current level of play, current trends within each team's play, in essence, having the ability to play the game in ones mind and determine the likely outcome, goes a little bit beyond most of the basketball tips you will find out there. It is like the difference between a casual spectator betting on a horserace and one of the jockeys in the race betting on the same race. Which bet would you rather make?

The guys who set the lines in Las Vegas, who determine the over and under scores, the sports analysts who use computer models and can figure probabilities and build algorithms that help them determine whether or not to shave that extra half a point off of a playoff game's line. Those guys do with numbers only, what some of these basketball tips gurus do with "preplaying" that game in their head before it actually happens. Both things are fair, if you have the ability, both really only still count as basketball tips, just like the guy who finds his tips using a dartboard. So the point is: depending on how much you are leaning on the tip, sometimes it is more important to evaluate your tipster than the team you are betting.

There are various Casino and Nevada based sports monitor sites on the internet. Many of them track ongoing results from gaming aficionados and tipsters across the internet, and across the country. Type Casino Sports betting or Nevada sports monitor into the Google search bar and you can review many such sites. Some even offer free one day or one time use of the site. Other sites are free but charge the tipsters to participate. It is often helpful just to read the tips and many have some analysis thrown in as well, just to verify or validate your betting decisions. Happy Winnings!

Top Ten Teams in the NBA in 2008

Sphere: Related Content
Here is my unofficial list of the top ten teams for the NBA's 2008 to 2009 season.

1. Boston Celtics: The returning championship team, these guys now know what it takes to get to the finals and come out victorious. Their record so far is just as impressive, they are 20-2. They could break the Chicago Bulls record of 72-10 if they keep up that pace. Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Rondo, Allen, Cassell, so much talent it's unbelievable.

2. Cleveland Cavaliers: Lebron James is hungry for a championship ring. Whether he does it with Cleveland, or eventually New York, he will eventually get one. He has that essence that Jordan had where you knew he would accomplish his goals. He has more talent around him this year and is doing very well. He is averaging 26.7 points a game right now. Lebron deserves his first MVP this year as his team would be 4-16 without him most likely at this point.

3. L.A. Lakers: What better rival to Boston than L.A.? It carries on the legacy of guys like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson among others. These guys are looking just as hard to beat as last year if not more. Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum are playing stellar this year. Their record is 17-3 and they are on a good pace to possible break the 72-10 mark as well. Kobe is averaging 24.9 points and might get MVP again.

4. Denver Nuggets: Now that they have Chauncey Billups they seem more revitalized. They play transition offense and defense much better and get the key plays. Clutch shooting is no problem now that Billups is here to save them. They could make one of their deepest playoff runs ever this year.

5. Portland Trailblazers: Talk about young talent. They have Brandon Roy, Greg Oden, LaMarcus Aldrige, Steve Blake, and Channing Frye. That is probably the youngest team I've seen in a while. While it will take time for Oden to develop and harness his skills, this team is an all out threat. Brandon Roy is having one of his best seasons averaging 20 points a game.

6. Orlando Magic: Dwight Howard is trying to end the season with the highest average of rebounds a game. Oh yeah he already is achieving that for the most part. He is getting 21 point and 14.5 rebounds per game. He is a player every team would love to have. On top of that they have Rashard Lewis, a big threat all around, as well as Turkoglu who can drain if from three land whenever he is called upon.

7. New Orleans Hornets: Now that they have some playoff experience, watch out! With a deadly guard in Chris Paul and a terrific finisher in Tyson Chandler the Hornets will hurt you everywhere. They also have Peja Stojakovic for when they need a clutch three. They are lacking in front court depth and don't have the best back up for Chris Paul. Other than that they look to do some more damage this year in the post season.

8. Houston Rockets: Talk about great depth, Tracy McGrady is hurt again, yet that doesn't stop the Rockets. They are 14-8 so far. They are definitely a sleeper team that could shock a lot of people. I know it sounds cliche but once Yao Ming and T-Mac are back in force, it will be on for the race in the SouthWest division.

9. Dallas Mavericks: A very rocky start for the Mavericks, but they are starting to turn it around. They are beating the teams that they should so far. But they need to show they can beat the Cavs, Lakers, and Celtics of the NBA world. Cause if they don't, making the playoffs really won't matter if you lose in round one again.

10. San Antonio Spurs: Losing Tony Parker was a big loss for the team earlier in the season. They are fighting back now that they have him, and have a 12-8 record so far which is on par for the upper ten percent of teams. Parker is still not his old self just yet as his stats are way below his norm.

The Strange But True History of Basketball

Sphere: Related Content
It would seem that Basketball has been with us forever. Yet it was only in 1881 that Dr. James Naismith created the game that now is one of the most popular games in the United States. What you may not also realise is that Naismith was actually born in Canada, and some wonder if the sport would be so popular in the US had he not been living in Massachusetts at the time he invented it.

Before he went to work at the YMCA Training School in Massachusetts, Naismith was the athletics director at the University of McGill in Montreal. It all started because he was trying to find a game for students to play inside during the cold winters. A soccer ball and two peach baskets were used to play the first game. At first a broomstick was used to push the ball out of the basket. Later they cut holes in the bottoms of the baskets, which is how the hoop and net we're used to eventually developed.

The game was introduced widely through the YMCA, not only the United States but throughout the world. Millions of people world wide play basketball as a hobby or even professionally. However, no nation has seen as much popularity for basketball as North America.

The game of Basketball continued to gain popularity and it was showcased in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. And today the National Basketball League is one of the most popular sports events. Prior to the formation of NBA the controlling body for the game of basketball in America was the Basketball Association of America. Today the NBA players boast some of the highest salaries in the professional sports.

The first paid basketball players can be traced back to 1896 on November 7. This was the date of a game between the Trenton Basketball Team and the Brooklyn YMCA. Basketball eventually broke away from the YMCA and moved into the National Basketball League.

Today great basket ball players like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain, Shaquille O'Neal and many more have made headlines not only in basketball, but in movies, tabloids, and even music. They even are role models for many kids as the game of basket ball is really very popular.

The NBA Finals are one of the most popular televised sports events in the United States. Everyone loves to cheer on their favorite teams and players. Michael Jordan, or Air Jordan as he was known, brought about much of the popularity in NBA merchandise. Everyone wanted Air Jordan jerseys, shirts, hats, shorts, and of course the ever popular shoes.

Today basket ball is one of the most popular games in the US and the NBA is a multi-million dollar association that earns revenue from ticket sales, televised games, and of course the equally popular merchandise. It is perhaps the favorite pass time and extra curricular activity with many children. Dr James Naismith must never have thought that his simple game with a ball and two peach baskets would become such a mega success.

Coaching Gets Easy with New Basketball Software

Sphere: Related Content
Realistic graphics and a wide variety of available actions, directions and models make the new software “Basketball Blueprint” a great solution for coaches looking for a fun, easy way to teach basketball drills and plays. The product is a .NET application providing the virtual basketball game with a great number of variants.

Basketball coaches are the software’s target audience. Taking into account that about 70% people are visual learners, coaches often face the problem of misunderstanding when drawing up plays “the traditional way” on chalkboards or dry-erase whiteboards. Thus, a tool for vivid illustration of play tactics can be the solution.

With Basketball Blueprint coaches are able to create dynamic basketball drills and plays and present them with vivid full color graphic animation.

Basketball Blueprint allows the user to model a basketball play or drill, which includes viewing an object (player, ball, etc.) from different angles, placing and moving players, making passes and shots, drawing arrows and other indicators in order to explain the situation, and showing the play or drill in motion. Each play or drill can be saved. The software is supported by a web site where users can upload and download their files and thus share their experience and ideas.

The software is able to convert any saved drill or play into a printer-friendly format. This allows a coach to print out a step by step storyboard and illustrate the strategy visually to his team. The product is now being marketed on the Internet.

By now, Basketball Blueprint has got the first feedback from coaches who had already tried it.

“Teaches the "big picture" without being too complicated. Other coaches are commenting that my players have an excellent understanding of the game. Basketball Blueprint is helping me take their skills to the next level,” says Joe Alsman, basketball coach at Boone Terre, MO.

Basketball Blueprint is available at http://www.basketballblueprint.com.

The product development was outsourced to Ukraine. The software has been introduced by outsourcing software development company TechnoPark Corp. “The project seemed to be easy, however it took much effort to make the game as realistic as possible. After the Basketball Blueprint release we have monitored customers’ feedback, and now we think about starting development of the second version of the software basing on end-users’ feedback.” said Olga Totskaya, Project Manager at TechnoPark Corp.

The software is easy-to-use and no special knowledge is needed. It will be useful for professional and amateur basketball coaches as well as for basketball fans.

The project was developed as a standalone .Net application (Microsoft .Net Platform 2.0).

How to Become a Great Basketball Player

Sphere: Related Content
If you dream of being the best basketball player in your league, or at the gym you play at then listen up! To be the best you have to train hard, practice with perfection, and play strong.

Basketball skills like shooting, ball handling, rebounding, stealing the ball, setting picks and screens, defense, keeping the post or boxing out, passing, blocking shots, moving without the ball, and foot-work are going to be your foundation especially a good jump shot.

Now if you want to get to the next level of competition you must perfect your basketball skills and practice drills like you were playing in a game. Don’t ever get sloppy in your training or practice; it’s better to have quality practice time than slopping quantity practice.

Here are some great practice tips to make you the best you can be:

1. One-Spot Shooting – Shot continuously from one spot on the court until you hit 90% of your shots, then move to a new spot and repeat. Eventually you will be able to hit shots at incredible accuracy from anywhere on the court. Practice jump shots, lay-ups, hook shots, fad away jumpers, and standing shots with each hand. Practice dribbling before the shot, fake before the shot, basically shot as if you had a defender in your face.

2. One-hand Dribbling – use one hand to dribble with, go through your legs, around and behind your back, over your shoulder, back and forth, side-to-side, high powerful bounces and low fast bounces. Do this with one hand at a time.

3. Plyometrics – You must be able to jump. You will most likely get a lot of jumping practice while playing, but to really unleash you full potential do some plyometrics. Try repetitive jumping from one spot bend down to your jumping angle and explode back up as high as you can, stay on the ground for only enough time for you to gather enough energy to jump as high as you can.

4. Squats and Leg Presses – You need major strength in your legs if you want to jump higher, hold the post, set better picks and screens. So you will need to be able to lift 2-3 times your body weight for squats and at least double that for your leg press. This will be painful, but you will gain tremendous strength, which will elevate your game quickly.

5. Upper Body Press and Pulls – Don’t forget about your upper-body. Fast hands means better dribbling, more steals and blocked shots, and a quick release shot. To increase your hand speed do push-ups, chin-ups are excellent for hand speed, shoulder presses, handstands, and shadow boxing. Now go out there and grab the rock!

6. Sprints – The best way to Increase HGH (Human Growth Hormone) is by running 5-10 second sprints. Sprints or any intense exercise will increase your HGH by as much as 300% for a few hours. What this means is that you will get faster, stronger, bigger muscles to take your basketball skills to the next level.

Now go practice your skills with perfection and build you speed, and strength. You are well on your way to dominating in your league or local gym, Good Job!

Discount Basketball Shoes--Be Careful

Sphere: Related Content
Please remember that you usually get exactly what you pay for--so buyer beware when you purchase discount basketball shoes. Be very selective and examine the shoes inside and outside. The time that you spend in the selection process may be time well spent.

The demand for basketball shoes has led to the setting up of a large number of shops, both online and offline, that sell discount basketball shoes. These stores offer huge discounts -- as high as 20 to 40 per cent -- on basketball shoes, making the offer very tempting.

However, one must be careful while selecting the branded basketball shoes. A concerned Nike, which is a leading manufacturer of basketball shoes, has gone to the extent of putting up a notice warning buyers to be careful of stores that offer big discounts. Nike's greatest fear is that substandard shoes are being sold in the name of Nike.

According to Nike, "If the fit isn't the same, the sole has little traction, or they smell of cheap rubber glue they're fake. Websites that sell fakes will usually state that their shoes are factory samples or variants or custom or replicas, etc. Also see where they are shipped from. Beware of sites that say they ship from Hong Kong or China via EMS."

Even E-bay in its guidelines for buyers advises caution. It advises buyers of discount shoes to check the credentials of the seller by going through the testimonials or feedback section. E-bay also advises buyers to check the seller's return policy before buying a basketball shoe.

However, this does not mean that every discount store is a cheat. There are several genuine discount stores on the net. One only has to scout around to locate the good ones. Nike itself recommends several online stores where its shoes can be bought without fear or concern.

Another point that needs to be checked is the shipping charge. There is no point in buying a shoe on discount if the shoe's cost becomes equal to the cost of a new shoe, once the shipping cost is added. In such cases, it makes more sense to buy the basketball shoe from an offline store. The buyer can at least check the quality of the shoe, and its fit.

Stores that offer a return policy should always be favored. The advantage with these stores is that they will change the shoe in case it does not fit or fails to meet the buyer's expectations.

Basketball Training for Big-Time Immediate Results

Sphere: Related Content
Basketball players need immediate results in order to compete at a high level. Since the players in todays game are so athletic, physical training becomes the grand separator. In designing an effective training program, a player needs to understand two major focal points;

* Individual skill practice must take place on a daily basis
* Conditioning/Training does not replace individual skill practice

Once the above two factors are understood, immediate progress has been made. If you are a smart player, you will make your skill work, conditioning because of how hard you work. But, as stated previously, it does not replace conditioning. Think of it as a double benefit. The daily skill work requirement of a big-time player is ball handling, passing, defending, rebounding, and movement training. The fundamental skills of basketball must be mastered and are considered imperative for a players success.

* Ball Handling
A player needs to master handling a basketball in a stationary style first. This is a prerequisite to moving with a basketball. Anyone who does not have absolute mastery over a basketball needs to focus on the Maravich Drills for their stationary movement. Most of my athletes start their individual workouts with five minutes of this nonstop at a very high intensity level.

Once mastery is attained, basic movements are used for traveling ball handling. Moves that are used in the game are emphasized. These game-time moves include change of direction, hesitation, in and out, crossover, in and out into crossover and pull back into crossover. These moves are critical for big-time results and are used in the game.

* Passing
If you have a wall to pass to, you have all you need. Make a mark on a brick wall and hit it one hundred times with your bounce, chest, overhead, one hand underhand, one hand overhand, and lob passes. Concentrate on starting every pass in the triple threat, strong with the ball position. Keep the basketball to yourself and do not give it away.

Once you have mastered the stationary passing, you can progress to moving. You can use that same wall, just take a strong dribble to the left or right and then go through the same series of passes. Once you master once dribble, proceed to two dribbles.

* Rebounding
Rebounding is timing, the ability to read the ball off the rim, and positioning. Like all the other skills, proper repetition will give way to serious results. When you perform your shooting drills, follow all of your shot, and finish them. Take the ball strong to the rim with authority. Shooting drills are the keys to rebounding and this is due to your repetitions of reading the ball off the rim.

* Defense and Movement Training
Since my retirement from professional basketball, I have realized there is a serious void in this area. There are tremendous individual skill coaches out there who do a great job but there is a lack of movement training coaches. To give you another example, why would a player who has not mastered his own bodily movement try to add weight to it? A body is only as efficient as his levers allow him to be. Remember, it is not always the skills or a weightlifting program as much as it is the players ability to move randomly.

How To Shoot A Basketball?

Sphere: Related Content
You have come to the right place if you want to learn how to shoot a basketball. To shoot a basketball is an athletic movement that is learned through practice and technique. I will explain step by step how to shoot a basketball and get it in the hoop most of the time.

Stance:
Here we go, first stand on the balls of your feet with your legs shoulder width apart and your shoulders between the basket.

Hands:
Hold onto the ball with both hands, one hand for shooting and the other for support.

Movement:
Bend down to a quarter squat or your jumping angle, keep you back slightly arched and shoulders back. Explode upwards as you bring the ball up to you chest then arch your arms over head, flick your wrist and release to spin the ball backwards in an arch into the basket. This is one quick movement, jump to give you more power for 3-pointers or to get above your opponent.

Practice:
Perfect practice makes perfect players. If you want to increase your accuracy and offensive shooting, practice the following drill. Pick a spot on the floor that you have good range from and start shooting from the exact spot until you can make 90% of your shots. Now move to a new spot on the floor and do the same. This exercise is programming your muscles and mind to know exact how to score from various spots on the floor. Eventually you will be able to score at will in games like you were born shooting. Once you get good at shooting run to the spot and shot like you were in a game, or pretend you are facing an opponent while shooting by your-self, or practice this with your team or friends.

Exercises To Increase Shooting Range:
In order for you to shoot 3-pointers or to extend your shooting range you need to increase your strength, especially in your shoulders. Some great exercises to increase you strength for shooting are: Military Press, The Jerk (Olympic Lift), push ups on your finger tips.

Now you know how to shoot a basketball and what you need to do to become a great shooter. Make sure when you are shooting a basketball your feet and shoulders are in the starting position. Use both hands while shooting, and jump to get more power and range. Practice perfect shooting and drills to increase you skills, because shooting a basketball is the main skill needed to be a great player. Have fun and work smart!

NBA Live 09 Basketball Crossover Moves

Sphere: Related Content
Of course anyone that is following NBA basketball video games, you already know there has to be one particular move in the game, probably second to the fantastic dunk, that has to be highlighted. We all know what it is, yes the crossover which then leads to ankle breakers.

NBA Live 09 has killer basketball crossover moves that will prove to be hours of fun for you. You will be able to enjoy doing a crossover on your friends or even the computer when you play. Who does not love the crossover move that Tim Hardaway started. Every NBA player now has that move in their bag of tricks. Here are a few tips on how to perform basketball crossover moves in NBA Live 09. Check it out:

How to setup your opponents up for basketball crossover moves?

While playing you want to stop your play at a stand still. Hold down the right trigger. Next flick your right stick in any direction for the anklebreaker dribble moves to activate. The anklebreaker dribble moves are Up for a crossover, down allows you to go dribble behind your back, right or left enables the wild through your legs crossover with a hesitation. After this you will start dribbling then push the left stick forward left or right to burst through with the crossover with a hyper fast first step. I am sure you have already seen this demonstrated and you know how quick this move is done.

Because some NBA players in NBA Live 09 are rated higher than others will definitely have a bearing on how effective your crossovers will be. It may be difficult to perform basketball crossover moves on certain players. When you start playing and start trying out the crossover move you will see my point. Depending on which player you have selected and which player is guarding you will determine if your crossover move will break your defenders ankles.

Most times a head to head matchup that is pretty evenly matched will result in no ankle breaker but rather just good solid defense. NBA Live 09 is setup for basketball crossover moves to be put on mismatch guardings. The better rated player on offense will easily be able to perform a crossover move on his opponent leaving his ankles broken like sticks. His opponent will stumble the other way while you go by him in the opposite direction. This is so cool to watch.

Ultimate Basketball Training to Dominate the Court

Sphere: Related Content
Basketball training needs to be carefully designed based the movement patterns that exist within the game. This understanding allows players to train using dynamic movements that promote function. For example; an exercise that includes a movement application is favored over one that is stationary. In addition, movement training primarily increases a human beings capacity for functional strength and conditioning.

* Are individual basketball skills important in training?

Yes and all individual skills must be mastered or in the progress of mastery for completion as a player. Individual basketball skills include but are not limited to shooting, passing, cutting, rebounding, defending, awareness, and helping.

Daily practice requirement for the pursuit of skill mastery is to the point of execution failure. For example; chest pass to a partner as explosive as you can. Have the partner throw the ball back quickly and then repeat the rapid chest pass. Once you are no longer accurate to your partner, the passing fundamental is over.

It is very important to develop correct habits so that the motor patterns can be remembered properly when you need them the most. At the end of a game when you are exhausted, you will not have to worry about a pass getting to a teammate. You know it will since you practiced diligently in your training.

* Should basketball players concentrate on flexibility before training?

Attaining an optimal level of flexibility is a precursor to lifting with weighted resistance of any kind. This is because dynamic movements greatly reduce the possibilities of injuries and safely increase maximum strength. A fine example of a dynamic stretch is jogging. Within a few minutes of jogging, the soft tissues (muscles) within the body become fuller due to their usage. This is that general feeling of being warm or what most coaches call a warm up. At this point, it is time to divulge into sensible physical training.

Movement stretches or dynamic stretches allow an athlete to develop flexibility without attempting to force flexibility. Improper stretching techniques can lead to sports injury and adequate health is the ticket to achieving true athletic potential and more importantly, reaching it.

* Do basketball players need to lift weights?

No they do not. Basketball players are advanced movers and need to condition themselves as such. The human body is comprised of a unique blend of levers (bones/joints) that have differential properties containing mechanical advantage and disadvantage. The primary goal of a player is to increase his entire bodily leverage to ensure performance during a rapid, high pressure, reactive based environment such as the basketball court. All players have natural weakness and those need to be assessed, and tended to through adequate training. In time and with patience, a player improves. Prior to lifting with weighted resistance a player must master his own bodily movement.

* What should basketball players focus on to get results?

First, layers need to focus on developing their peripheral vision to the highest possible level. This ability greatly enhances awareness and leads to prowess. In the early days of basketball, coaches would put their players in a circle and have them pass balls to each other without looking. Each player would look straight ahead yet still see the ball quickly approaching them with there peripheral vision. This is the type of basketball training that represents similar anxiety to that of an actual game.

In addition to visionary development each basketball player needs to improve wrist and ankle strength. Both joints hold an overwhelming responsibility to our movement and manipulative capability. Properly training the wrists and ankles reduces the possibilities of strains, sprains, and pain all together.

Wrist training benefits include but are not limited to longer shooting range, explosive passing, ball control, shock absorption, etc. Ankle training benefits increase speed, movement, acceleration, vertical leaping, bounding, running, stopping, changing direction, shock absorption, etc.

Thirdly, a basketball player needs to concentrate on developing a perfect core balance. Sometimes trainees have abdominal muscles that are much stronger than their back muscles. This is due to basic overwork and neglect and it creates muscular imbalance which may lead to future injury.

Additionally postural strength is paramount and serves as a primary injury preventive attribute. Improved core strength allows a player to move his body quicker, faster, and stronger in unpredictable environments where any movement may occur. This type of conditioning is developed through unique dynamic functional tasks that require concentration and mental toughness.

* What is basketball strength?

Basketball Strength is the power to score, dominate, and defend anyone at anytime on the basketball court. It is a no fear demonstration of skill mastery and ability. Consider this a honed skill set that can not and will not be denied.

Huffy Basketball Hoop For Beginners And Professionals

Sphere: Related Content
The Huffy basketball hoop is one of the most popular hoops available in the market. It is known for its durability and ease of installation. Huffy also believes in innovation, and continues to come up with new products. Its current product range includes portable hoops, in-ground hoops, backboard and rim combinations.

The portable hoops, according to Huffy, make up for almost 80 per cent of hoop sales. The biggest advantage of these hoops is that they can be rolled across to any point. These hoops have a base that can be filled with water or sand to provide stability. Since the base is mounted on wheels it can be rolled back into the storeroom after the game is over.

The portable hoop range starts with InstaHoop, which costs $159. 99. This hoop has an easy and fast assembly, and can be assembled without any tools. The InstaHoop has a
telescoping backboard mount, which can adjust backboard height in 6" increments from 7.5' to 10'.

The mid-range portable hoops include Pick 'N Roll, Spalding Back Court portable and Center Court Portable. All these come with steel framed acrylic backboards. They also have ExactaHeight lift system that allows for easy height adjustment.

The most expensive and the most versatile portable Huffy hoops are Pro Arena TM, EZ Touch TM and Power Move. The Power Move, which costs $649.99, has a 52" acrylic backboard with heavy-duty 1"x2" square corner steel frame and a 5/8" heavy-duty solid steel Pro Slam breakaway rim. It has a push thumb button to raise and lower the backboard, and adjust the height from 7.5' to 10'.

The in-ground systems require the basketball pole to be set in concrete. These hoop options are best if you have a basketball court. You also need outside help to install them because not everyone is good at mixing cement. Removing them also is a problem. The floor has to be cemented again. However, in terms of stability the in-ground Huffy hoops are the best. The players can even swing from the backboard or the basket without causing damage.

Spalding In Ground, which costs $339.99, is a popular in-ground Huffy hoop. It has a
48" smoked acrylic backboard with steel frame. The backboard comes equipped with a board pad to protect board edges.

For those who play basketball around their homes, the Huffy backboard and rim combinations are the best. They can be attached with ease to any flat structure. However, to do so mounting bracket is also needed.

Basketball Ankle Braces; Fend Off Ankle Sprains

Sphere: Related Content
Basketball is a game full of action. It involves a lot of running and body contacts. And these more often than not result to injuries like ankle sprains. Different basketball moves such as crossover dribbling may also cause injuries like this one. Because of the body movements and actions involve in playing basketball, injuries like ankle sprains cannot be avoided. What players do is to use basketball ankle braces.

Before trying to understand what these ankle braces are, you need to understand ankle sprains first. Ankle sprain is usually caused by falling off and accidentally twisting the ankle too far. Signs of ankle sprains include swelling, bruising, pain or tenderness, stiffness and the inability to walk or even bear the weight.

Depending on how badly the ligaments are forced or stretched, an ankle sprain could be mild or severe. The latter can be very painful. While some may still be able to play with sprained ankle, as with the case of Manu Ginobili in the recent NBA Championship games against the Lakers, some will be advised to rest and will miss several games.

To combat ankle sprains, players use basketball ankle braces or tape your ankles. But, if you are not trained to do it, you should not tape your ankles lest you want to experience discomfort. Usually, an experienced trainer or your coach will be able to administer ankle tapes properly. So, what do you think is better? Tape or ankle braces?

Tape vs. Ankle Braces

For teams with low budgets, tapes are usually the option. It is almost ten times cheaper than a pair of ankle braces. Tapes are widely available especially for the young athletes. The disadvantage, however, is that it can cause blisters and pains when administered improperly.

Ankle braces can be use easily especially if they fit the user. They are mostly beneficial in providing support, stabilizing and limiting the motion of the ankle joint. There are also lots of choices when it comes to ankle braces. However, the most common type of basketball ankle braces are the lace up braces which feature Velcro for better stability.

In the end, choosing tape or ankle braces still depends on the player who will use it. Some may feel comfortable with tapes while some prefer basketball ankle braces.

Getting the Best Deals on Basketball Ankle Braces

If you opted for basketball ankle braces over tapes, the next thing that you should decide on is where to buy them.

• Sports shops – your local athletic shops surely offer wide array of ankle braces for you to choose from. Be sure to look for ankle braces that fit you.
